Rare Set Of Six 1960s Danish Teak ‘Eva’ Chairs By Niels Koefoed For Koefoed Hornslet

A rare find, this set of six ‘Eva’ dining chairs are in outstanding condition. Designed by renowned Danish furniture designer, Niels Koefoed, for Koefoed Hornslet in the 1960s, they come with provenance and pedigree. The design and craftsmanship on show here is exemplary, particularly so on the carver dining chairs of which there are two. The gentle curves and contours at play  give these tall, generous dining chairs a softness and femininity. They are as you might imagine supremely comfortable with their supportive form-fitting backs and generous seat pads. Made in solid teak with pale green velvet upholstery they will have much to offer. You’d be hard pushed to find more standout mid-century dining chairs than these.

Description

These are an original, vintage pieces that are ‘sold as seen’. It is in overall excellent, used condition. The wooden frames have been cleaned, oiled, waxed and polished. The original pale green velvet upholstery shows some minor signs of wear but nothing that jars. They are in very good order. As the seats drop into the frames, it would be an easy and cost effective project to get the seats reupholstered in a more contemporary fabric if you chose. All six chairs are solid and sturdy. One of the standard chairs has a minor repair at the top corner of the back. This is shown in two close up photos. This is barely noticeable and it’s been well done. We don’t believe the integrity of the chair is compromised but this one issue is reflected in our price.  Overall, their condition is outstanding – they’ve been taken great care of. Each chair carries the Made in Denmark quality stamp, alongside the Koefoed maker’s mark.
