Danish Midcentury Tall Black Leather Armchair
A sharp, masculine, clean-lined Danish black leather armchair in fantastic shape and with many, many years of lounging love to give. Dating from the late sixties / early seventies, it’s a classic Scandinavian design with a tall back and generous proportions for ultimate comfort. It looks great from all sides with its chiselled good looks. These pieces can be a statement seat on their own or they mix well with other styles from different periods. And as we always say, vintage leather is a practical cover choice for a seat that’s destined to be used a lot in the modern home.
Description
This is an original, vintage chair that are ‘sold as seen’. It is in very good, used condition. We have thoroughly washed the chair and applied a nourishing leather balm to the upholstery. The three separate cushions are in excellent order with plump inners and working zips. The fixed leather upholstery on the main frame has some minor signs of wear and tear as you would expect with a piece of this age, and with vintage leather. There is a little colour fading on the arms tops and also on the ‘corners’ at the arm ends and top back of the chair. These are shown in photos. The finishing cloth underneath the seat cushions has a small hole, about the size of a penny. Obviously this doesn’t show as it’s under the seat cushion and it’s unlikely to deteriorate further. You could iron a patch over it if it bothered you. The chair is solid and sturdy, and we can see so repairs or issues with the structure. Sadly there is no maker’s mark but it’s imported directly from Denmark and we believe it to date from the late 1960s / early 1970s. Please refer to our photos for good sense of their excellent condition.
