Midcentury Swedish Gote Mobler Nassjo Leather & Bentwood Footstool
A generous, good-looking tan leather footstool, designed and made by Swedish furniture makers, Göte Möbler Nassjö in the 1970s, its contoured shape is perfect for resting tired ankles on at just the right height. It’s in fantastic condition and its neutral colour and unfussy design means it can be partnered with any sofa or chair, regardless of style or colour. And once you’ve lounged with a footstool, there’s no going back!
Description
This original, used piece is ‘sold as seen’. It’s in very good, vintage condition. We have carefully cleaned this piece and applied a natural wax polish to the wooden frame. We have applied a nourishing leather balm to the plump cushion which is in excellent order with all buttons secure. The cushion is fixed in place and not removeable, however we noticed that the finished canvas underneath had pulled a little on one side, pulling some of the original staples up. We have made a repair here, stapling the canvas back in place. It’s secure, well done and unlikely to deteriorate. It’s also not visible as it’s underneath the fixed cushion – please refer to our photos of this. It’s a well-made, neatly designed footstool that solid and sturdy with no movement. It has some minor marks and scuffs to the wooden frame and some light wrinkles on the leather but this is what we would expect on a piece of this age. The original Gote Mobler Nassjo maker’s mark can be seen on the underside and it most likely dates from the early 1970s.
