Original Danish Bentwood Reclining Armchair in Black Leather

With a particularly striking design, featuring exaggerated curves, this Danish bentwood chair is a stylish thing that looks handsome from all sides.  It’s in superb condition with the original black leather upholstery showing hardly any signs of wear and it remains soft and supple. The chair reclines with a simple mechanism that tips it back into a second position, perfect if you need to nod off.

Description

This original, vintage piece is ‘sold as seen’. It is in excellent, used condition. We have cleaned the upholstery and applied beeswax polish to the wooden frame. The original black leather upholstery is in superb condition with very few signs of wear. The zips are in good order and the cushions (there are three sections – headrest, back and seat – but they are attached as one) are plump and in excellent condition. The cushion attaches to the frame with Velcro straps as part of its original design.  There is a little sunlight fading to the finishing cloth at the back of the chair but isn’t particularly noticeable and if the chair were in a corner or positioned against a wall this wouldn’t show at all.  The dark bentwood frame is in similarly good condition, with only a few minor scuffs and knocks but nothing specific to note. The reclining mechanism works well – there are two positions. Sadly there is no maker’s mark on the base but it’s a Danish piece, imported directly, and its design and the level of wear suggests this chair most likely dates from the 1980’s. Please browse our photos for an accurate sense of its super vintage condition.
