1960’s Ercol ‘Windsor’ Plank Drop Leaf Dining Table
An iconic piece of British midcentury design from Lucian Ercolani. Made in the 1960s, this beautiful honey blonde, rectangular ‘plank’ table features a elm top and beech splayed legs. The drop leaves are extended with a simple pull mechanism on the underside and the original Ercol label is still affixed. A timeless design that never goes out of fashion, an Ercol piece of furniture is for life.
This Ercol table is characterised by its softly tapered, elm wood table top that gently slopes off. There is no hard edge or angle at the sides. This juxtaposed with the sharply angled beech legs, is a playful piece of design of ‘soft and hard’ that works beautifully together. And of course the patina of the elm is stunning with a beautiful grain. The finish is a honey blonde, rather than a yellow blond.
With the leaves down, it’s a compact piece that will tuck neatly away. When required it extends to a generous 137cm is length so can comfortably accommodate six diners.
